RxAlarms ("we," "our," or "the app") is a medication reminder and organization app. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.
RxAlarms is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is a personal organization tool to help you track medication schedules, doses, and refills, and it should never replace guidance from your pharmacist or prescriber.
Your medications, dose schedule, dose history, and app settings are stored locally on your device only. RxAlarms does not require you to create an account, and does not collect your name, email, or any other personal identifier to use the core app.
To read a prescription photo or PDF you choose to scan, the image is sent securely (via HTTPS) to our backend server, which forwards it to OpenAI's API solely to extract the medication name, dose, and schedule text. That image is not stored permanently by us after the scan completes, and it is not used to identify you personally — the request is tagged only with an anonymous, randomly generated device identifier, not your name or any account.
OpenAI processes this data under its own API data-usage terms, which (as of this writing) exclude API data from being used to train their models. See OpenAI's API data usage policy for details.
On first launch, the app registers an anonymous device ID with our backend, used only to apply scan rate limits and (for subscribers) to verify an active subscription. This ID is not linked to your name, email, or any other personally identifiable information we collect.
RxAlarms offers an auto-renewing monthly subscription, processed entirely through Apple's App Store or Google Play billing systems. We do not receive or store your payment card details — Apple/Google handle billing directly. Our subscription-management partner (RevenueCat) receives limited, non-financial subscription status information (such as whether a subscription is active) to verify access; see RevenueCat's privacy policy for details on their handling of that data.
If you choose to add medication reminders to your device's Calendar app, or enable notifications, that data is handled by your device's own operating system (iOS/Android) according to the permissions you grant — RxAlarms does not transmit calendar or notification data to us.
RxAlarms lets you export a backup file of your medication data to share via your device's normal share sheet (e.g., Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, email) and re-import it later, including on a new device. We do not receive, store, or have access to that backup file — it goes directly wherever you choose to send it.
We do not collect your name, physical address, contacts, browsing history, or advertising identifiers. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or ad targeting.
RxAlarms is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 17 without the involvement of a parent, guardian, or caregiver managing that person's medications.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected in an updated "Last updated" date above.
